Halle Berry Would Have Returned as Storm For ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’- But Ryan Reynolds Didn’t Call
In the lead-up to the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, the internet was abuzz with rumors about what characters from Marvel’s past would return in the film.
While some cameos, including Jennifer Garner’s Elektra and Daphne Keen’s X-23, were revealed before the film hit theaters, by and large, the film was shrouded in a veil of secrecy.
In the end, Deadpool & Wolverine did feature a huge number of cameos, giving long-lost characters a time to shine. Among the returning characters were Wesley Snipes as Blade, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm, and Andrew Stanford as Pyro.

One person who did not return for the recent Marvel blockbuster, in spite of all the rumors, was Halle Berry.

The actress, of course, played Storm in the Fox X-Men franchise, on her way to becoming one of the biggest stars in the genre.

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Berry revealed that she would have been happy to play Storm again, but Ryan Reynolds never asked her.

“Blake [Lively] asked me one time, I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, and she said, ‘Would you ever be in my husband’s movie as Storm?’ I said, ‘Yeah, if he asked me,’ but he never asked me,” she explained.
Why Reynolds Didn’t Call
Following the release of Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds and director Shawn Levy were adamant that they wanted the film’s cameos to be meaningful to the story. They were not simply trying to get as many characters back as possible.

While it would have been awesome to see Berry suit up again, the Deadpool & Wolverine story was largely about overlooked heroes finally getting a chance to make a difference. That would not have been true of Storm.

With the multiverse set to come together for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, however, perhaps Berry’s willingness to return will convince Marvel to bring Storm back into the fold.
