‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Sets Its Sights on Award Season
it After dominating the box office and perhaps saving the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Deadpool & Wolverine now has it sights on award season.
According to a new report from Variety, the third installment in the Deadpool franchise is being submitted for consideration in the Golden Globes comedy categories, with Reynolds being pushed for a spot as the best actor in a comedy or musical category.
The film will almost certainly be considered in the Golden Globes’ new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. Introduced last year, the new category celebrates films that have grossed $150 million. Additionally, it must have grossed $100 million n the United States.
Jackman Will Compete in Supporting Actor Categories
Perhaps more surprisingly, Hugh Jackman is being submitted to supporting actor races across the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, Critics Choice Awards, and the Oscars.
Finally, Deadpool & Wolverine will undoubtedly be considered for numerous technical categories.
While Marvel has traditionally struggled at the biggest award shows despite being a dominant force in popular culture, Deadpool & Wolverine could prove to be an exception.
Can Deadpool & Wolverine’s Stars Deliver Again?
Jackman, Reynolds, and Levy are no strangers to award season, and all three are currently riding high in Hollywood.
Lauded by critics and fans alike, Deadpool & Wolverine was a triumph for both Disney and Marvel Studios. After grossing $1.3 billion at the box office, Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy will not look to bring home the gold this award season.
