Paul Bettany Gives a Promising Update on His ‘Vision’ Series and Lauds ‘Agatha All Along’
With Agatha All Along currently the talk of the Marvel universe, it is easy to forget that another WandaVision spinoff is in the works.
That distinction, of course, falls to Marvel’s upcoming Vision series, which will see Paul Bettany reprise his role as the super-powered android.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bettany revealed that the new Vision series would begin shooting next year and teased, “We’re cooking up something that I’m really excited about.”
How We Got Here
For those who don’t remember, Episode 8 of WandaVision introduced White Vision into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The second version of Vision was created by S.W.O.R.D and tasked with entering Westview and eliminating Wanda.
Eventually, however, a confrontation occurs between White Vision and the Vision created by Wanda’s magic and grief. During their battle, Wanda’s Vision transfers his memories into White Vision. Remembering who he is, White Vision declares. “I am Vision,” before flying away.
WandaVision creator Jac Shaeffer was initially going to helm a spinoff series titled VisionQuest. However, she eventually left the project to focus on Agatha.
Subsequently, Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas was brought on board to run the series. In addition to Bettany, the upcoming Vision series will also feature the return of James Spader’s Ultron.
Bettany’s Thoughts on ‘Agatha All Along’
While Vision does not appear in Agatha All Along, the series’ story could significantly impact the character’s future. With Billy Maximoff now officially back on the scene and in search of Tommy, Vision’s family could play a significant role in the future of the MCU.
When asked his thoughts on Agatha All Along, Bettany was effusive.
“I love it. I love it and I’m so proud of [showrunner] Jac Schaeffer and I am going to watch again because there’s so much for me to learn moving forward into my contribution,” Bettany said.
Thankfully, it sounds like we won’t have to wait too long for Vision to return.
