Colman Domingo Has Met With Marvel Studios – Is He Replacing Jonathan Majors?
Amid speculation that he could replace Jonathan Majors as Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Colman Domingo has confirmed that he met with Marvel.
When the studio fired Majors after his domestic violence conviction, there was debate about whether his role as Kang would be recast. Eventually, however, Kevin Feige and his team moved away from the multiversal villain altogether.
Marvel initially tipped their hand when it was announced that Avengers: 5 would no longer be titled Avengers: Kang Dynasty. Then, at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, the Russo Brothers announced that Robert Downey Jr. was returning to the MCU as Dr. Doom, and the film would officially be titled Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel Still Needs to Find a New Kang
While it is clear that Marvel is moving on from Kang, the franchise still needs to wrap up his story. To that end, it seems evident that Marvel will have to recast the role.
One name that has been bandied about as a possible replacement for Majors has been Colman Domingo.
Domingo Met With Marvel
In a recent interview with Domingo at Variety’s 10 Actors to Watch, ScreenGeek learned that the actor has met with Marvel.
“I have had a meeting with Marvel, yes. But it wasn’t specifically about anything. They literally sat down and said, “What do you want to do?” And I said, “I don’t know. What do you got for me?,” he said.
“So we’re having engagement, of course. Who would not want to be a part of the MCU? I just wouldn’t want it to be right. And something that is created for me and something where I feel like I can give something of myself to. So we’ll find out what that is. I don’t know what it is yet, but I’m patient.”
While it doesn’t sound like Domingo will necessarily replace Majors at Kang, the actor is clearly getting ready to join the MCU.
Hopefully, we learn more soon.
