‘Moon Knight’ Season 2 Is Not Happening (But Steven Grant Will Return)
Nearly three years after Moon Knight debuted on Disney+, we finally have confirmation that Oscar Isaac’s fan-favorite hero will return.
As a quick recap, Moon Knight premiered on March 30, 2022.
The series followed Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift shop employee who discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with Marc Spector, a mercenary.

As Steven unravels the mystery of his blackouts, he learns that Marc serves as the earthly avatar of Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon, tasked with delivering justice. The duo must navigate their fractured identities while confronting Arthur Harrow, a cult leader seeking to unleash the goddess Ammit’s judgment upon the world.
Expanding the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in new directions, Moon Knight was well-received by critics and fans alike. Despite its popularity, however, a second season of the series never came to fruition.

Perhaps more surprisingly, Marvel has yet to use Moon Knight or any of the show’s other characters in other live-action productions. While Issac did reprise his role in Marvel What If…?, like The Eternals and Shang-Chi, Moon Knight has felt cast aside.
Finally, however, we have a positive update on the character’s future.
Moon Knight Will Return
In a recent interview with ComicBook, Marvel’s head of streaming, television, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed that the studio has future plans for Moon Knight.
“So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future,” Winderbaum explained.

“And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road.”
A New Era of Marvel Television
As Winderbaum points out, Marvel Television has radically changed in the years since Moon Knights debuted. Initially, the studio treated its streaming series as if they were films. The idea was to delve further into the backstory of characters, who would then tie into the broader MCU.

However, in the aftermath of the dual disasters that were She-Hulk: Attorney and Law and Secret Invasion, Marvel has changed course.
Going forward, Marvel wants to create its television shows in a more traditional fashion, telling stories that can be serialized and enjoyed without being a Marvel expert.

It makes sense, then, that Moon Knight Season 2 is not happening. The good news is, for the first time in years, we have confirmation that we will see Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley return.
