Jonathan Majors Would be Thrilled to Return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) concludes its Multiverse Saga with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Infinity War, it will continue to proceed without Jonathan Majors.
Just a few short years ago, Majors looked primed to be the next big Marvel star. In the aftermath of Avengers: Endgame, Kevin Feige and his team cast Majors as Kang, a multiversal villain who would be the MCU’s next Thanos-level threat.
Majors debuted as a variant of Kang named He Who Remains in Season 1 of Loki. However, the villain’s true arrival in the MCU came in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where Majors played Kang the Conquerer.

The idea was to set Kang up as the kind of multiversal threat that would eventually force a new version of the Avengers to reassemble.
Marvel Fired Majors in December 2023
Unfortunately for Marvel, Quantumania missed the mark and failed to resonate with critics or fans. Little did the studio know, however, that its troubles were just beginning.
On March 25, 2023, Jonathan Majors was arrested after a domestic violence incident with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. While other organizations quickly cut ties with the actor, Marvel decided to let the legal process play out.
Because of the timing of the trial, Season 2 of Loki aired before a verdict was reached. Deciding to stay the course, the second season of Loki had Majors introduce Victor Timely, yet another Kang variant.

In December 2023, a jury convicted Majors of two misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment. Marvel quickly fired the actor and eventually decided to pivot away from the Kang storyline altogether and introduce Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
Would Majors Return to the MCU If Asked?
15 months after he was fired by Marvel, Majors was asked by USA Today if we would ever consider working with the studio again. The actor was adamant that he would.

“Yeah, of course I say yes. Disney, Marvel Studios, I love them,” Majors said. “Tom Hiddleston, loved working with that guy. Loved working with Paul Rudd. Loved working with Gugu Mbatha-Raw. I love the industry so much, and now I’m in the place where I can feel the love from them and actually express my love for them.”
While it remains to be seen how Marvel ties up its Kang storyline, it has become evident that the studio has no plans to bring Majors back into the fold.
If given a chance, however, Majors would be thrilled to suit up again.

“Yes. Yes, to both,” he replied when asked if he would return to the MCU. “The version of me that would come back to those places, though, would be different. I don’t think anything different would happen between ‘action’ and ‘cut.’ That’s why I got the job. But there would be something different about it if I were to come back, and I would like that. But as I said, it’s not in my control.”
