Finn Jones Wants Another Chance to Play Iron Fist
With Daredevil, Kingpin, and Punisher now firmly re-established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) thanks to Daredevil: Born Again, fans’ attention has quickly turned to the rest of the former Netflix Defenders.
While there has been continued speculation about a possible return of Jessica Jones, the calls for another street-level hero have not been as loud.
I am, of course, talking about Iron Fist.

For those who don’t remember, Finn Jones portrayed Danny Rand/Iron Fist in Luke Cake, The Defenders, and two seasons of his own show. Unlike Daredevil or Jessica Jones, both of which were almost universally praised, Jones’s Iron Fist is widely considered to be the worst of the Netflix Defenders shows.
Nevertheless, there has been continued speculation that Iron Fist could return, perhaps even as part of a larger Defenders reunion.

Jones Weighs In
During a recent appearance at the LaConve anime convention in Mexico (via IGN), Jones was asked about the possibility of suiting up again. After noting a “willingness for fans to see” Iron Fist again, Jones pleaded for another chance at the role.
“I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it,” Jones admitted. “My response to that is like, give me a [freaking] chance, man. I’m here and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen.”
The Door Is Seemingly Open
While the possibility of Jones returning as Iron Fist once seemed far-fetched, it has become increasingly likely in recent years.
After the creative overhaul of Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel decided to tie the series into the original Netflix series. This not only allowed characters such as Foggy, Karen, and Punisher to return but also led the studio to deem the entire Netflix Defenders franchise canon.

Earlier this year, Marvel’s head of streaming, Brad Winderbaum, admitted that there was a possibility that fans could see their favorite Netflix heroes in some capacity.
“I can’t say much, but I’ll tell you that it’s so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox,” Winderbaum told EW last month about bringing more Netflix heroes to the MCU.
“Obviously we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book. If you can draw it, you can do it. It’s dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe. Especially on television. But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring.”

While there may not be an outcry for more Iron Fist, seeing Marvel and Jones take another crack at the character would be interesting.
Hopefully, the actor gets his wish.
