‘Thunderbolts*’ Director Teases a Big ‘Doomsday’ Connection
With all the hoopla surrounding the multiversal madness coming our way in Avengers: Doomsday, it is easy to forget that Thunderbolts* is actually the next MCU film that will hit theaters.
Arriving on May 2, 2025, the film will see a new kind of super team assemble to save the world from Sentry.
Under the watcful eye of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis Dreyfus), the Thunderbolts* will bring together former villains and anti-heroes including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell).

Is Sentry the Key to ‘Doomsday’?
While Thunderblts* has primarily been advertised as a grounded thriller, the inclusion of Sentry in the film means that more than just Earth may be at stake. In fact, it is possible that the events of Thunderbolts* will directly impact the multiversal collision set to take place in Doomsday.
In a recent interview with SFX, Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier teased that Sentry could play a significant role in the MCU going forward.

“There might be some stones, or pebbles [smiles]. I don’t know how you want to rate your rocks,” Schreier said. “Look, you know the character that we’re talking about, and you know that there’s a level of power involved there that could have an impact going forward. I’m not making Doomsday so I’m not privy to that.”
An Interesting Delemia
While it makes sense that Sentry’s debut in the MCU could pump up the multiversal stakes before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters, it also raises a problem.
Somehow, the Thunderbolts are going to have to stop one of the most powerful entities the MCU has seen, or, at least, delay his victory until the Avengers can assemble.

Marvel, then, will need to walk a tightrope with their next film, raising the stakes high enough that the audience cares, but not so high that it overshadows what is to come.
Thunderbolts* will hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
