Ryan Reynolds Gives a Promising ‘Deadpool 4’ Update
While the future of the Marvel Multiverse rests on the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the status of another fan-favorite franchise is starting to come into focus.
After the historic 2024 release of Deadpool & Wolverine, it appeared that Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth had become a cornerstone of the MCU going forward.

By delivering the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, Deadpool & Wolverine showed that reports of Marvel’s struggles had been overstated and proved that Deadpool could work within the broader MCU.
Will We See ‘Deadpool 4’?
Despite the film’s $1.33 billion box office haul, Marvel has yet to confirm that another Deadpool installment is in development.
The last time we checked in, Puck reported that Reynolds was eager to return, especially in the wake of his wife, Blake Lively’s, public legal dispute with director Justin Baldoni.

Now, we have another update.
Ryan Reynolds Breaks His Silence
During a recent appearance on Today, Reynolds was asked about the possibility of another Deadpool film.
While he confirmed that he has been writing, it sounds like the character may take on a different role going forward.

“I have stuff written, but I don’t think I’m ever going to center [Deadpool] again. I think he’s a supporting character. He’s a guy that’s great in a group.”
A Look Ahead
Since teaming with Hugh Jackman for Deadpool & Wolverine, Reynolds has increasingly suggested that Deadpool works best as part of an ensemble.

With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon, it seems likely that the character could return as part of a larger team.
If Reynolds gets his way, Deadpool’s future in the MCU may be less about solo outings and more about shared stories.

How exactly that will take shape, however, remains to be seen.
