Good News, Bad News – Marvel Auctioning Props From Netflix Shows
Welp. Marvel’s Netflix live-action television era is — really — over. It’s bad news because Daredevil and Jessica Jones are two of my favorite characters in all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
And, back when Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. began to falter, there was Matt Murdock – defending Hell’s Kitchen. It was awesome!
Now, however, it’s all over but the shouting… and the auctioning. That is good news.
Own A Piece Of Marvel History
Not all of the shows were as critically acclaimed as Daredevil, but all were successful enough to lead into their team-up limited series The Defenders. The Punisher came soon after, as Jon Bernthal’s character was introduced in season 2 of Daredevil. Back in 2018, after Disney announced that Marvel would feature on Disney+, Netflix started pulling the plug on all of their Marvel shows beginning with Iron Fist. Jeph Loeb, the former head of Marvel TV, said that they were “blindsided” by the cancellations. Marvel TV moved on from the loss, quickly announcing a slew of new shows to come to Disney+ in the future, like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki.
Welcome To The Propstore
IndieWire posted a story outlining what’s in store for fans:
Marvel Entertainment’s Netflix television partnership, which produced shows such as “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones,” might be dead, but fans can acquire a piece of the superhero franchise’s history at an upcoming auction.
On Friday, Marvel and Prop Store announced a June auction that will feature a variety of items from “The Punisher” and “The Defenders.” Bidding opens in May… Props expected to be auctioned off include the Punisher’s (Jon Bernthal) vest and skull-clad armor, and a handful of masks from the series’ second season.
Bidding Begins In May
The auction itself is pretty spectacular. As the official site says, it’s an “outstanding opportunity to own a piece of Marvel history!”
Registration is now open, so if you missed out on the last couple of auctions, there’s still a chance to participate! In addition to over 500 lots to bid on, registrants can enter a giveaway for a chance to win a New York Bulletin Newspaper featuring Daredevil in his black costume (from Marvel’s Daredevil) or an original Frank Castle Full Costume (from Marvel’s The Punisher). Bidding opens in May.
Prop Store’s Marvel Television Live Auction will take place at its Los Angeles facility this June — fans can also bid on items via telephone or online at www.propstore.com/marvel.
