Marvel Turns NFL Draft Prospects into Superheroes
To many sports fans, football players are superheroes unto themselves.
Marvel made that juxtaposition literal, thanks to a collection of would-be comic covers.
The covers, which depict college football superstars making the transition to NFL superheroes, feature some spectacular artwork.
From Gridiron to Iron Man

Referencing some of the mightiest mags in Marvel history, from a modern classic featuring the God of Thunder to an otherworldly Web-Slingin’ icon of the ’80s, some of the most beloved artists at the House of Ideas transformed Jalen Hurts, Kyle Dugger, D’Andre Swift, Derrick Brown, and Isaiah Simmons into their own amazing animated Super Hero analogs.
Derrick Brown by Mike McKone and Carlos Lopez, after Iron Man (1968) #126 by John Romita Jr. and Bob Layton
Jalen Hurts by Marcio Fiorito and Carlos Lopez, after THOR (2007) #1 by Olivier Coipel
Kyle Dugger by J.L. Giles and Chris Sotomayor, after SECRET WARS (1984) #8 by Mike Zeck
D’Andre Swift by Joey Vazquez, after Captain America (1968) #109 by Jack Kirby and Syd Shore
Isaiah Simmons by Yvel Guichet, Chris Sotomayor, and Wayne Faucher, after Black Panther (2016) #1 by Brian Stelfreeze
Of course, this is all to promote ESPN’s coverage of the 2020 NFL Draft; you can watch these young men and others realize their own football on Thursday, April 23.
