Celebrate the 4th of July with Captain America in Fortnite

Epic Games has announced an exciting way to celebrate the 4th of July… by adding the brand new Captain America skin to your Fortnite collection! Fans of the Marvel Universe are sure to enjoy playing as this iconic character.

An Epic Crossover

While the announcement was made to tie in with the Holiday, this is not the first Marvel character crossover for Fortnite. Most recently, Epic Games added Deadpool as an unlockable character in its Chapter 2 Season 2 pass. Other crossover character skins have included Black Widow and Star-Lord.

A previous Avengers: Endgame crossover enabled characters to access do-gooders’ weapons, like Captain America’s shield. The Endgame crossover also allowed players to take on the role of Thanos. Such pairings have been extremely successful for both franchises.

Availability

Fortnite’s Captain America skin is now available for a limited time. The in-game skin pack retails for 2,000 V-bucks (about $20 USD). Included is the skin, which appears to be based on Captain America’s comic book appearance more so than the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s take on the character. Additionally, players who purchase the skin pack will receive his Proto-Adamantium shield, which sits on his back until it is used as a harvesting tool.

Just in time for the 4th of July, players today may also access the “Grand Salute Emote,” which features Captain-America themed fireworks.
