D23 Honors Chadwick Boseman with Disney Legends Award
He is undeniably one of the most important performers in Marvel’s history, and he is now forever etched in the legacy of the Walt Disney Company, as D23 honors Chadwick Boseman with the Disney Legends Award.
With the highly-anticipated events of this weekend’s D23 Expo, fans are anxiously awaiting any kind of updates and announcements for some of their favorite Disney properties.

But before the Marvel panel that should shed light on what’s to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the festivities started by celebrating some of the most iconic people in Disney’s history.
With Marvel’s rise to prominence in recent years for the Disney company, D23 began with a ceremony that honored Chadwick Boseman, among many others, with its Disney Legends Award.

The award was bestowed upon some of the most hallowed names in the company’s history, all of which have made immeasurable contributions to the legacy of the company.
The award is defined by Disney with the following; “The Disney Legends Award is given to an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to the Disney legacy”

Boseman received the award alongside iconic names such as Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, Anthony Anderson, Kristen Bell, Rob’t Coltrin, Robert Price ‘Bob’ Foster, Jonathan Groff, Don Hahn, Josh Gad, Doris Hardoon, Idina Menzel, Chris Montan, and Tracee Ellis Ross.
The Disney Legends Awards Ceremony has been a Walt Disney Company staple for over three decades, and there are few who personify the criteria like Chadwick Boseman.

A performer who was as talented as he was vibrant, and whose incredible performances in 2016’s Black Panther still remain one of the best in the history of the MCU.
An actor who was present in the Marvel Universe until his tragic passing, few carried the weight of superhero life with the kind of grace, class, and levity that Boseman did.
