Spider-Man 3: What’s Happening with the Multiverse of Titles?
I know the titles for the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie were only just released – and you’re probably already sick of hearing “welcome to the multiverse” puns – but hopefully, if you are here, you’re willing to bear down for one more.
Home Slice? Phone Home? Home-Wrecker? Welcome to the Multiverse.
Spider-Man 3 Cast Welcomes the Multiverse
Today, the cast of Spider-Man 3 finally announced the film’s titles…ALL OF THEM. Say what?
First announced on Spider-Man star Tom Holland‘s Instagram account, one title for the third installment of the Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures franchise is Spider-Man: Phone Home.
The subtitle posted by Holland fits right in line with the previous two installments of the Spider-Man franchise: the uni-themed 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming and its summer vacation sequel 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home.
But wait, even if that title makes sense, in a separate post by MJ’s Zendaya, the actress shared another all-new, all-different title for forthcoming film, saying she’s really proud of this one: Spider-Man: Home Slice.

So…is that the title? Uh, maybe, because that’s not the end of the multiverse of titles story.
Next, Jacob Batalon, the man in the chair, shared another, and third, distinct title from the set of the Spider-Man movie in Atlanta, Georgia: Spider-Man: Home-Wrecker.
History of Raimi’s Spider-Man Multiverse
Based on casting reports (some of which Holland has denied) and other rumors, it seems like the web-slinger’s third solo film will see Peter Parker sucked into the multiverse. Zendaya, Batalon, and Holland’s title card prank seems to play into that premise. However, what’s happening with the different titles, and whether any of them are legitimate or not is still unconfirmed, according to CBR.
As Marvel Blog readers know, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige has already confirmed that Spider-Man 3 will pick up after the events of WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with both Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Cumberbatch expected to appear in Spidey’s film.
However, this isn’t Spider-Man’s first romp through the multiverse. Parker’s pivot to an actual multiverse started back in Far From Home when the post-credits scene featured J.K. Simmon‘s J. Jonah Jameson in a cameo unmasking Parker as the real threat to humanity.
Fans Play Along for Spider-Man Title Multiverse Prank
Being aware of this history with the character’s origin, some fans are really getting into the Marvel’s Multiverse fun, and things are going Spider-Ham on Twitter after the latest PR stunt from Spider-Man 3.
Marvel funny man Chip Zdarsky (Howard the Duck, Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man) even got in on the fun, tweeting an alternate version of the title: Spider-Man: WandaVision Episode Ten.

In Zdarsky’s comments, one fan even pitched the return of Japanese Spider-Man (and hey, given how much Stan Lee loved the Japanese take on the web-slinger, let’s do it, have Shinji Tôdô take over for the Lee cameos from now on).
What’s the title of Spider-Man 3? Is it all three? Maybe. Maybe Marvel Studios is planning on holding an X-Men-style vote for the title of the upcoming film. My personal vote: Spider-Man: Homeward Bound.
