Shield Circles Globe for Falcon & Winter Soldier Premiere
To commemorate the debut of episode one of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier for streaming on Disney+ on Friday, March 19th, 2021, Captain America’s iconic shield made appearances all around the globe! In a Tweet sent by the Disney+ UK account (@DisneyPlusUK) on Friday, four pictures of the shield appearing on landmarks in different countries across the world were shared with an adoring public – and, it’s pretty wicked!
Shield Circles Globe!
A shield circling the whole globe? Well, remember, just like Peter Parker said in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, “That thing does not follow the laws of physics at all!”
The Tweet included pictures of the shield on The London Eye in the United Kingdom (a landmark that is frequently on our mind here at Marvel Blog, considering that’s where Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently filming), La Grande Roue de Marseille in France, the LunEur Flywheel in Rome, Italy, and on MAAG Hall in Zurich, Switzerland.
From London to Melbourne via Mexico City, we're wielding The Shield across the globe 🌍

And as if that weren’t enough, the first Tweet was followed by a second Tweet with four more world landmarks bearing Cap’s distinctive shield!
This Tweet included images of Cap’s iconic shield on the Singapore Flyer in Singapore, on the Melbourne Star in Australia (another locale with plenty of Marvel Studios projects in production), on the Planetario in Buenos Aires, Argentina (a particularly impressive display of the distinctive symbol), and on the Torre Latino in Mexico City, Mexico.
While we’re very excited about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier here in the United States, it’s clear that the anticipation for the newest chapter in the onscreen saga of Captain America is reaching a fever pitch all around the globe!
Here at Marvel Blog, we’ve got only one question for Marvel Studios now: how are you going to top all this hoopla with the promotion for the next Disney+ series, Loki?
Shields Up!
Have you had a chance to watch episode one of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier yet? Which character do you hope ends up wielding the shield by the conclusion of the six-episode season? We’re waiting to hear from you!
