Chinaka Hodge to Write Ironheart for Disney+
In an exclusive report at Variety, it was revealed that Chinaka Hodge will be the head writer for the Ironheart series for Disney+.
Ironheart Update
The Ironheart Disney+ series was first announced during the December 2020 Disney Investor Day presentation.
And the leading role of Riri Williams, the M.I.T. student who builds her own power suit, will be played by Dominique Thorne, who Feige says her talent shown so much that she was cast without so much as an audition.
A History of Chinaka Hodge
Chinaka Hodge is a multi-talented writer, who has written work in multiple mediums.
As far as television goes, she was a writer on Daveed Diggs-starring TNT adaptation of Snowpiercer, as well as the Apple reboot of Amazing Stories.
She is also an accomplished poet, having published two books of poems: Dated Emcees and For Girls with Hips: Collected Poems and Writings. And she is a playwright, having penned Mirrors in Every Corner and Chasing Mehserle.
And she is also a founding member of The GetBack, the Bay Area hip hop collective which includes Diggs (check out Hodge interviewing Diggs back a decade ago above)!
A History of Ironheart
Riri Williams first appeared in Invincible Iron Man #7 (2016) by Brian Michael Bendis, Mike Deodato, Frank Martin, and Clayton Cowles.
Soon, she had claimed the title of Ironheart. To see more of these adventures, you can check out the first volume of her solo series, which begins with Ironheart (2018) #1 by Eve L. Ewing, Kevin Libranda, Luciano Vecchio, Geoffo, Matt Milla, and Cowles, with a cover by Amy Reeder.
And her ongoing adventures continue with the second volume of her solo series, 2020 Ironheart (2020) #1 by Vita Ayala, Danny Lore, David Messina, Mattia Iacono, and Joe Caramagna, with a cover by Skan.
