Marvel’s Loki: The Art of the Series Reveals GREATER THREAT
Now that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has ended with that universe shifting finale where Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) took over the mantle of Captain America, we can start looking forward to the next Marvel Studios series coming to Disney+: Loki.
Recently, a new listing appeared on Amazon, Marvel’s Loki: The Art of the Series, and the synopsis of the book reveals something BIG for the series: Loki will be helping the Time Variance Authority face down an even greater threat! Read on for more information.
Marvel Studios’ Loki: What We Knew…
Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki’s escape during the time heist scene in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame is the springboard for the series.
Loki will follow the fan-favorite God of Mischief as he travels the timeline escorted by the Time Variance Authority, a group of “time police” who picked him up after he escaped from Avengers Tower with the Tesseract, effectively creating a new branched timeline.
So far, the trailers have teased that Loki is primarily dealing with Owen Wilson‘s Mobius M. Mobius; however, until now, the specific stakes of their mission have remained shrouded in mystery.
Marvel’s Loki: The Art of the Series
With marketing for the new series starting to kick into full swing, fans can finally piece together more of what to expect from the premiere. In a new listing Marvel’s Loki: The Art of the Series on Amazon, a synopsis for Marvel’s Loki series reveals that Hiddleston’s character is facing deletion from reality.
You can read the full synopsis from the book, which is scheduled to release November 30th, 2021, below:
Picking up immediately after Loki steals the Tesseract (again), he finds himself called before the Time Variance Authority, a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space, forced to answer for his crimes against the timeline and given a choice: face deletion from reality or assist in catching an even greater threat.
Although we don’t know who or what that “great threat” is, when the first episode airs on June 11th, 2021, we do know that Loki will have to face-off with different variants of themselves from different timelines.
Many fans are hoping that one of the variants will be Lady Loki, reportedly played by Sophia Di Martino, who has been teased several times in the trailer but is yet to be confirmed.
However, at Marvel Blog, we have another guess for the who the greater threat is: Evil Loki himself. Relevantly, in Loki: Agent of Asgard by Al Ewing, Lee Garbett, Nolan Woodard, and Clayton Cowles, Evil Loki, a.k.a. Old Man Loki, must face off against a young Loki, who is trying to correct their past self’s mistakes.
Oh yeah, and we learn, Evil Loki, who is the OG Loki, well, he didn’t actually die.
It’s already suspected that Ewing’s run of the comic will influence the onscreen story arc. Running with this a bit to guess the plot, I suspect the “villainous” Loki prime is still in play and he’s gotten wind of the “good” Loki variant, and things will unfold from there. Or some variant of that…
Marvel Legends 6-Inch Loki Action Figure
Fans also got another hint at what might be happening in the forthcoming Loki series from the Marvel Legends 6-Inch Loki Action Figure (which is available for pre-order on Amazon) box description. According to the toy description, it turns out the TVA is protecting the “sacred timeline” and by stealing the Tesseract the Loki variant messed with it.
You can read the full description from the toy box below:
Mere moments after his escape in during the events of Avengers: Endgame, Loki is apprehended by the TIME VARIANCE AUTHORITY (TVA) and arrested for his crimes against the ‘sacred timeline.’
This detail suggests that Chris Evans‘ Steve Rogers didn’t “trim all the branches” so other alternate realities and timelines exist because of the events of Endgame, and further supports the theory of variant Lokis appearing throughout the course of the show!
Basically, be prepared for something big means MORE LOKIS, well, hopefully!!!!
Marvel Studios’ Loki will start streaming on Disney+ on June 11th, 2021, and stars Hiddleston, Wilson, Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Richard E. Grant, Wunmi Mosaku, Erika Coleman as Florence Schaffner, and Isabelle Fretheim as Minutemen. The Studio has already hinted at a second season too! Exciting!
