Marvel’s Head of Television Says the Studio “Fought For” ‘Wonder Man’ Season 2
Marvel fans received disappointing news earlier this summer when the studio announced that Wonder Man wouldn’t return for a second season.
The decision came as a surprise, especially since Marvel had announced the show’s renewal just four months earlier.

Following the announcement, speculation quickly spread about why the studio had suddenly changed course.
The prevailing theory was that creator Destin Daniel Cretton had become too busy with other projects to continue working on the series.

That speculation was later put to rest when showrunner Andrew Guest addressed the cancellation on TikTok, explaining that Marvel and Disney had simply decided not to move forward with another season.
Brad Winderbaum Weighs in on ‘Wonder Man’
Weeks after the Wonder Man news came down the pipeline, Marvel’s head of television, Brad Winderbaum, broke his silence on the show’s fate.

During a recent interview with Brandon Davis, Winderbaum was asked about the sudden reversal regarding Wonder Man.
“I don’t know what to say,” Winderbaum began. “It’s complicated. Sometimes you feel like you’re invincible and you can make whatever you want. Sometimes you don’t have leverage, and it’s subject to market forces that I barely understand.”
“I Fought For the Show”
While Winderbaum never pinpointed exactly what led to Wonder Man‘s cancellation, he seemed to indicate that Disney ultimately made the decision.

“I fought for the show. We all did. Everyone at Marvel wanted to see it happen,” he continued. “Maybe I’m an idiot, but I still have hope that, by some miracle, there is a way to do something down the road.”
As we have seen time and time again, Marvel is willing to revisit characters and stories when audiences demand it.

Perhaps the outcry over Wonder Man‘s cancellation will eventually lead to another chapter for the series.
