Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum Breaks His Silence on the Cancelation of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’
Marvel fans got disappointing news last month when it was revealed that Daredevil: Born Again would not be renewed for a fourth season.
The decision was particularly interesting, as Born Again had been touted as the template for Marvel’s streaming series moving forward.

In recent years, Marvel has been open about its plans to overhaul how it makes television.
The New Formula
After years of producing shows that advanced the MCU’s main narrative and essentially served as films broken up into segments, Marvel decided to embrace a more traditional television structure.

To that end, the studio set out to create self-contained shows fans could enjoy without needing to keep up with the broader MCU.

Additionally, Marvel wanted to develop stories that could be serialized and span multiple seasons.
The First Fruits
After undergoing an overhaul midway through production, Daredevil: Born Again became the first major example of Marvel’s new strategy.

The series focused on New York’s gritty, street-level world, delivering a violent political drama that starkly contrasted with the glitz and glamour of the Avengers.
With the series already renewed for a third season, Daredevil seemed to represent the future of Marvel streaming, rather than Ironheart or Agatha All Along.

Then came the news that the show would end after its third season.
#SaveDaredevil
In the aftermath of Marvel’s decision, fans have launched a #SaveDaredevil campaign.

While it remains unclear whether the online pressure will lead Marvel to change course, the studio’s head of television, Brad Winderbaum, has heard the demand.
Winderbaum Weighs In
During a recent conversation with Brandon Davis, Winderbaum confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 was always envisioned as the conclusion of a three-season arc.

According to Winderbaum, the plan is to close the book on this chapter of Daredevil’s history before taking a break and considering what’s next.
For fans hoping to see more of the character, Winderbaum emphasized the importance of viewership.

“The biggest leverage I have… is the actual viewership numbers… That’s where I get my power to be able to make something or not.”
