First-Look Eternals
In addition to plenty of tantalizing details about the upcoming Phase Four movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this sizzle reel also included your first look at Eternals, the highly-anticipated upcoming movie helmed by none other than the Oscar Award-winning Chloé Zhao, who was recently awarded the Academy Award for Best Director.
Months after Eternals was initially set to release in theaters, Marvel Studios has finally released a first look showing snippets of the film’s star-studded ensemble cast.
Zhao – a fan of the comics from which the film originates – approached Marvel herself, according to an interview in Variety. According to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Zhao’s pitch for Eternals was “spectacular,” and “a very bold and very ambitious, sprawling 7,000-year story of humanity and our place in the cosmos.”
The Marvel Method!
The clip also features narration of Stan Lee himself discussing the Mighty Marvel Method of storytelling, which considers everyone on Earth to be part of one big family.
It wasn’t just new information that was included in the video: in addition to clips from many of the previously released MCU movies, there was also footage of a theater audience’s reaction to the climactic battle of Avengers: Endgame, recorded on April 26th, 2019.
Then, we got to see footage from several of the upcoming MCU movies, including scenes we had yet to lay eyes on from Black Widow, more clips from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (which saw the release of a trailer last week), and of course, our first look at clips from Eternals.
Finally, the clip concluded with a very tantalizing logo… and while we know this is Phase Four, we can’t help but think that this is a hint about the Fantastic 4!
