New BLACK WIDOW Posters Feature Heroes & Villains
Naturally, Marvel Blog True Believers are closely following the ongoing saga of the release date of Black Widow. After multiple delays (thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic), Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) will be returning to the big screen on July 9th, 2021, and you’ll be able to catch her exploits at home this summer, too, thanks to a simultaneous release on Disney+ (with an additional charge for Premiere Access).
However, with a little over a month left until the film’s released to audiences worldwide, Marvel Studios released some new character posters on its official Black Widow Twitter account to hype fans to go see the first MCU film in over a year.
Black Widow Posters Galore
This is the latest batch of posters for Black Widow, and they feature a design that is similar to the layout for the Black Widow poster that was released last month at the same time that Marvel Studios announced the movie’s new, current release date in July.
However, while that poster drop only included Natasha sporting one of her many superhero lewks, this newest batch of Black Widow posters centers not just the late Avenger, but several members of the movie’s supporting cast!
The Black Widow posters not only feature MCU veteran ScarJo, but also the new cast making their heroic (or villainous) debut, including Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz as Melina, [Redacted] as Taskmaster, and O-T Fagbenle as Rick Mason.
According to long-standing rumors, Black Widow is meant to introduce a new, significant villain to the MCU. Thus far, many on the internet are speculating that the new villain is Taskmaster, a character who is known in Marvel Comics for teaching mercenaries how to beat heroes at their own game (literally), and may prove to be one of the Widows greatest foes.
However, consider this, Marvel Blog True Believers: Black Widow was originally meant to release last year, so perhaps we’ve already met this new villain in the meantime, and Marvel’s Taskmaster promotional material is just messing with us! Not to put too fine a point on it, but it seems as though Val may be something of a heavy hitter, if you ask us…
Maybe we’ll be seeing more of Val in Black Widow?
Everything that Rises Must Converge
Black Widow still has a few more months to go before it’s finally released in movie theaters and for streaming on Disney+, so we probably have not yet seen the end of the flick’s extensive, ongoing marketing campaign.
Check out the brand-new character posters for Marvel Studios' #BlackWidow. Experience the film in theaters or on @DisneyPlus with Premier Access on July 9. Additional fee required. (6/6) #RickMason pic.twitter.com/PaCgdARm4s
