Kraven the Hunter
Last summer, Deadline first reported the news that J.C. Chandor is directing the Sony Pictures film Kraven the Hunter, a project that is being billed as the next chapter in the Sony extended universe of Marvel-licensed characters.
Introduced in 1964’s The Amazing Spider-Man #15, and created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, with letters by Art Simek, Kraven is one of the most notorious villains from Spider-Man’s rogue’s gallery.
Born into Russian aristocracy, Sergei Kravinoff (A.K.A. Kraven the Hunter) is an obsessive hunter with the strength and speed of a jungle cat, who was first introduced as a Spider-Man villain, and proved to be one of Spidey’s most formidable enemies, as one of the original members of the Sinister Six.
However, Kraven later appeared in The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl run too, and don’t worry, Marvel Blog True Believers, our girl, Doreen Green, beat him.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Although some fans might be disappointed that Taylor-Johnson isn’t returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Pietro, the former Avengers star has been cast to return in a recurring role this time around… Kraven the Hunter (apparently, it won’t be Keanu Reeves, but that’s O.K. since Keanu is coming back for Matrix 4).
In addition to playing the Elizabeth Olsen‘s twin brother, Pietro, in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the actor’s credits include Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, Olsen’s husband in Godzilla, Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals, which scored him a BAFTA Award nomination, and Dave Lizewski’s hit film Kick-Ass with Fietro star Evan Peters.
Now, he’s playing the titular role in Kraven the Hunter, which will be released on January 13th, 2023. The film was written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk, and it will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach.
