GOTG The Game will give you the chance to step into the boots of none other than Star-Lord himself (who?), but all five of the main Guardians are getting character design updates for the upcoming game.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy video game is developed by Eidos-Montréal in collaboration with Marvel Entertainment.
According to Marvel, it’s “a bold third-person narrative action-adventure game which combines original storytelling with electrifying single-player gameplay” that will introduce you to the GOTG themselves, but with a dash of “distinct mix of sci-fi, family drama, and rock n’ roll attitude” that is foundational to the Guardians franchise.
Introducing the Gardens of the Galaxy
Recently, Marvel unveiled character posters to give fans a first look at the new hero designs. First up is Peter Quill himself.
This design looks very similar to the MCU version we all know and love, but I do want to point out his really cool buttons, especially the one that looks like a 45 rpm adapter, a small plastic insert that goes on your turntable to give you the best sound whenever you’re playing records.
Next up is Gamora.
What I like about her design is that it echoes the character’s costume from the comics. Her white armor has been a mainstay for quite a few runs now, and it’s cool to see it rendered on the computer!
Drax is probably the most similar to his big-screen counterpart from the GOTG movies, albeit with simplified tattoos. It makes sense why they had to do this for a video game, but I prefer the LEGO Drax’s tattoos, which feature LEGO skulls and such.
Then, there’s Groot, who has some cool equipment on. This reminds me a bit of Groot in Heroes Reborn, and seems like it could be a significant update for the character… which could be fun!
And finally, there’s Rocket.
Rocket has a goatee in this game, and while that may seem like a small deal, it does a lot to update his aesthetic! Check it out!
