The WINTER HULK Arrives in Autumn in Avengers #48
In a Tweet sent on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021, the official Marvel Entertainment Twitter account released the cover for Avengers #48, announcing part of the upcoming W.W.S.H.: World War She-Hulk storyline that has been teased in ads throughout the Heroes Reborn event.
Arriving on September 1st 2021, it looks as though the storyline of Avengers #48 will see Jennifer Walters (A.K.A. She-Hulk) being subjected to the machinations of the Red Room, causing her to be transformed into a horrifying alternate version of herself, Winter Hulk!

Avengers #48: Heroes Reborn?
The Winter Hulk storyline, which is helmed by a creative team that includes Jason Aaron and Javier Garrón, is arriving in September 2021.

Avengers #48 will involve Walters being captured by the Winter Guard, which has ties to the Red Room – in other words, this sounds like the perfect opportunity for a crossover with a Black Widow story, at least somewhere in the Marvel Multiverse. In fact, just like Taimur Dar said, it’s hard not to make a comparison between the Winter Hulk’s outfit and the one worn by Scarlett Johansson in the upcoming Marvel Studios’ Black Widow movie!

The new She-Hulk story comes after the Heroes Reborn event sent readers to a world where the Avengers never existed and Earth was instead protected by the New-ish 52-ish Justice Squadron put together by the villainous President Coulson. While that storyline introduced some new, alternate-dimension heroes, She-Hulk didn’t play a major role in the narrative… but this autumn, it looks as though her time has arrived!
While Aaron recently completed work on Heroes Reborn, Garrón has been busy as well. This week, you could read a story with art by him in Marvel’s Voices: Pride #1 featuring Iceman and Magneto.
