Cassie Lang’s Ugly Bunny Reveals Quantumania Is Filming
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed took to Twitter on Monday, July 26th, 2021, to confirm that the third installment in the Ant-Man movies has started filming with a photo of Ugly Bunny from the first film.
Into the Quantum Realm
The third installment of the Ant-Man trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will once again star Paul Rudd as Scott Lang (A.K.A. Ant-Man) and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne (A.K.A. The Wasp), as well as MCU newcomers, Kathryn Newton, who will play Cassie Lang, and Jonathan Majors, who will be returning the role of He Who Remains/Kang.
Newton will be taking over the role as Cassie, which was previously played by Emma Fuhrmann in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.
The second film, titled Ant-Man and the Wasp, was a box office success, especially compared to the original. The movie opened with a 33% improvement over the first Ant-Man‘s $57.2M opening weekend, according to Deadline. So, Marvel Studios has high hopes for the final movie in the trilogy.
Ugly Bunny Takes to Twitter
On the heels of Comic-Con@Home this weekend, Reed shared a photograph of Ugly Bunny on set to announce the news that principal photography has started on Quantumania, saying, “It begins. Day One – Principal Photography.”
It begins.

However, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen this horrific stuffed bunny.
Ugly Bunny first appeared in Ant-Man (2015) as a gift from Scott Lang to Cassie on her birthday. And despite the step-dad’s look of confusion about the gift choice, Cassie is excited to get such an ugly bunny for a present, exclaiming, “He’s so ugly! Can I keep him?”
The fact Cassie is being aged up in this film could be important for the future of the MCU.
In the comics, Cassie Lang is part of the Young Avengers storyline, playing the role of a size-altering hero Stature. With Cassie, Kate Bishop, Patriot, and Billy and Tommy Maximoff being introduced into the MCU, it seems like Marvel Studios is planning on introducing the team of young heroes at some point.
