KEVIN FEIGE: Agatha Ain’t Done Yet
In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes that was spotted by Lisa Vondale at our sister site, MickeyBlog.com, Marvel Studios Head Boss In Charge Kevin Feige confirmed what we all knew to be true in our hearts: the invariable, inevitable return of the scene-stealing, show-stopping Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) is just around the corner!
Agatha All Along
Agatha Harkness first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in WandaVision, where she first pretended to be innocent neighbor Agnes. But Agnes was simply a disguise that she adopted in order to conduct experiments on the Hex that had ensconced Westview, New Jersey – experiments that helped her identify Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) as the Scarlet Witch.
At the conclusion of the first season of WandaVision, the Scarlet Witch traps Agatha in the identity of Agnes (don’t worry, Agatha fans, Hahn says she’s “just resting”).
Feige notes that you’ll be able to see Hahn soon in Knives Out 2, but also teases more Agatha in the MCU… but what storyline could be next?
Welcome to Pleasant Hill
While WandaVision season one was airing and we were all theorizing about what might be going on, my wife Avery Kaplan guessed that the Marvel Comics storyline Welcome to Pleasant Hill might play a role. In that storyline by Nick Spencer, Gerry Duggan, and more, super villains were given a reality-warping makeover in order to make them unassuming suburbanites… sound familiar?
Well, if you watched Marvel Studios’ Assembled: The Making of WandaVision, you may have noticed that the street that Wanda, the Vision, and Agatha live on is called “Sherwood Drive”… and it connects with a street called “Pleasant Hill.”
Coincidence, Marvel Blog True Believers? I don’t think so…
The Wicked Witch of Westview
What’s next for Agatha Harkness? Will she get to team-up with our other favorite new Marvel character, Classic Loki? We’re on the edge of our TV trays! Let us know what you think in the comment section.
