Meet Captain Carter in Freya Betts WHAT IF…? Poster
In a Tweet sent on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021, the official Marvel Studios Twitter account released the first entry in a series of posters by artist Freya Betts that will celebrates the individual episodes of Marvel’s What If…?, the first episode of which arrives for streaming on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 11th, 2021.

Freya Betts
The poster art was done by Freya Betts, a British artist who has worked on many licensed projects: her website includes work depicting Stan Lee and The Queen’s Gambit, to name a few.
In fact, if you’re a fan of Betts’ work, the Stan Lee – Limited Edition Lithograph Print by the artist can be purchase online through the Moore Art Gallery website for £45.00.

And she has even worked with the Royal Mail to create special Star Trek stamps that honored all of the Captains of the Federation, from James T. Kirk in Star Trek: The Original Series through the captains of Star Trek: Discovery, including Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Picard.
I’m just going to assume that Star Trek: Lower Decks is getting its own, separate set of stamps sometime soon – Freeman is my Captain.

Captain Carter
The poster for What If…? depicts what seems to be World War II era propaganda for Captain America, but torn away to reveal Captain Carter, the super-soldier created when Peggy Carter gets the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers (although Steve devotees should rest assured that Rogers will still be playing a role in the episode).
As suggested by the poster, the first episode of What If…? will be the one about Captain Carter.

The next week, we’ll get to see T’Challa as Star-Lord on August 18th, and a week after that, we’ll see Loki taking over Earth on August 25th (choke on that, TVA).
