In a surprise move, Black Widow has been released on digital platforms early, at least for Disney Movie Insiders! The release was announced by the official Marvel Twitter account earlier today:

Available on Many Platforms
If you’d like to purchase Black Widow digitally, it is now available through multiple outlets, including Amazon Video, Apple TV, Movies Anywhere, Google Play, and Xfinity available now. Plus, there are at least three additional “coming soon” buttons, suggesting that Black Widow will soon be available to watch on even more platforms.
The digital release includes special features, like a blooper reel, deleted scenes, and more.
Black Widow features Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff, David Harbour as Red Guardian (the U.S.S.R. response to Captain America), and Florence Pugh as Yelena, and no spoilers, Marvel Blog True Believers, but you’ll want to watch this one before Hawkeye arrives for streaming on Disney+ later this year!
Black Widow
Recently, Black Widow has been at the center of controversy, with Johansson claiming that The Walt Disney Company forced Marvel Studios to release the movie simultaneously for streaming (with Premiere Access) on Disney+.
According to the suit there was “no reason” to do this. Apparently, Johansson was blipped away for the past 18 months and has not yet heard of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which makes viewing a movie in a theater a potentially deadly proposition for some fans, like if you are immunocompromised, like me.
N.B. armchair legal experts: the cause of action for the suit is a “tortious interference” claim, not a “breach of contract” claim, and that’s why the pandemic and the number of theaters (not the money she earned) matters.
On Disney+ on October 6th
If you’re waiting until you can stream Black Widow on Disney+ without an additional fee, the movie will be available without Premiere Access on Disney+ on October 6th, 2021.
