Legendary Novelist Walter Mosley to Write The Thing
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Thursday, August 19th, 2021, it was announced that legendary novelist Walter Mosley will be writing The Thing, a six-issue mini-series illustrated by Tom Reilly, who will also be providing the series main covers.
The first issue of The Thing is arriving at your local comic shop (LCS) in November 2021.
Why We’re Excited for Walter Mosley
Walter Mosley is the author of many prose novels, including the ‘Easy Rawlins’ series of detective stories.

The first book in the ‘Easy Rawlins’ series, Devil in a Blue Dress, was released in 1990. The series has continued in the years since, and 2016’s Charcoal Joe was the fourteenth novel and most recent addition.
The ‘Easy Rawlins’ series has proceeded through the decades, following the exploits of Rawlins in Los Angeles from 1948 through 1968 (so far).

Wondering about Mosley’s connection to the Fantastic 4? Well, wonder no more! Mosley is so familiar with Marvel’s first family of superheroes that he even penned the introduction for the upcoming tome from Abrams Books, Fantastic Four No. 1: Panel by Panel, to be published on November 16th, 2021.

The Next Big Thing
Marvel teases, Mosley “known for his definitive and bestselling international work in mystery and crime fiction, brings his signature fiction writing style to a sweeping saga,” giving tantalizing hints about what’s in store for Ben Grimm when the comic arrives in November.

On a lonely evening, The Thing has a chance (or perhaps not-so-chance) encounter that sends him on a far-flung adventure!
He’ll meet plenty of faces from across the Marvel Universe, with both new and old characters making appearances in what Marvel promises to be a story told in Mosley signature style.
Arriving in Autumn
Maybe Grimm will visit Avengers Campus instead of Disney World in this run as many of Mosley’s stories take place in LA.
