S.H.I.E.L.D. Shenanigans in the Sacred Timeline in WHAT IF…? Clips
In a series of Tweets sent on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, the official Marvel Twitter account revealed several new clips of this week’s upcoming episode of What If…?, and it appears that Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are up to their old bag-o-tricks.
What If… The World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?
The first clip seems to reveal the premise of the third episode of the first season of What If…?, which will apparently be titled, “What If… the World Lost its Mightiest Heroes?”
In a voiceover narration by Uatu the Watcher (Jeffrey Wright), we get to find out what this week’s story will be about. It seems as though, instead of the Avengers assembling in this episode’s timeline… they were instead assassinated! And we already have a hint at which mischievous prankster is behind the villainous plot!

Although one of the most exciting details about this video is the inclusion of the Sacred Timeline from Loki. Is this a confirmation that What If…? flows directly from the events of the first season finale of Loki?
But wait, there’s more…
But that isn’t the only video released from tomorrow’s episode of What If…?
In a second clip, we saw what appeared to be a pair of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents discussing something in the cab of a military transport truck, while Black Widow punched her way through the soldiers in the back.

And while the two male agents scoffed at Nat’s butt kicking skills from the front of the cab, she showed them from the back of the truck – cross jabbing, right hooking, and knee striking her way to not one but several K.O.’s.
What If…?
It isn’t clear exactly how all of these pieces fit together, but there are some other elements of the puzzle that have been uncovered.
For one thing, we know that Clark Gregg will be reprising the role of Agent Coulson in the episode.
And we also know that Nick Fury and Black Widow play into the narrative, thanks to the posters released earlier this week.
But everything else is up in the air, Marvel Blog True Believers – that’s just the way the multiverse works! Let us know what you think will be going down when the new episode premieres in the comment section.
