REVIEW: Daddy Issues Galore in EXTREME CARNAGE TOXIN #1
In Extreme Carnage Toxin #1 by Steve Orlando, Gerardo Sandoval, Danilo S. Beyruth, Victor Nava, Chris Sotomayor, and Cory Petit, the 1,000th symbiote in Venom’s genealogy takes center stage… and just like his host, Bren Waters, Toxin has some issues with his daddy to work out!

Dueling Daddy Issues
In Extreme Carnage Toxin #1, the daddy issues that both symbiote and host have are foregrounded in an issue that pushes the Extreme Carnage.

For Waters, that means his father, a security guard at Alchemax.
Although I am not very familiar with the family situation at the Waters house, it seems like there is some tension due to the fact that Alchemax is connected to anti-extraterrestrial factions… and while his father may not realize it, Bret has a very close relationship with an alien, given that he’s the host of the Toxin symbiote!

Meanwhile, Toxin has issues with his father, Carnage. Through dialogue, we learn that Carnage has even killed Toxin before (did I mention there were daddy issues in this one, Marvel Blog True Believers).

While the Toxin storyline gets more attention than the Waters storyline, including in The Void, where Carnage and Toxin battle I think we will see more of this particular symbiote and host in the next two issues of the Extreme Carnage event. For one thing, it seems like Senator Krane has some issues with his own son.
Moving forward, I’m curious how each of these relationships with their respective fathers will play out!
