Just like previous MCU Emoji on Twitter, the Morris emoji was created by 100% Soft (A.K.A. Truck Torrence).
Delightful Dijiang!
The most devoted Marvel Blog True Believers are very familiar with Morris, who has now taken the Internet by storm – something we knew would happen from the moment we first laid our cow-brown eyes on Morris.
Back in May 2021, we first caught a glimpse of him when he was included as an accessory with the Marvel Studios’ Katy action figure, depicting the hero played by Awkwafina in Shang-Chi, which is currently playing in theaters.
In the interim, we learned lots about the character, including the fact that he is voiced by Dee Bradley Baker. And trust us, Marvel Blog True Believers, from The Suicide Squad to Star Wars to Star Trek, you have heard this prolific actor’s abilities in action before.
Want to watch and listen to the Great Dee in action – and learn more about how he got his start on Nickelodeon’s Legends of the Hidden Temple – then watch the clip below:
Soon, we discovered that Morris bore a striking similarity to the Dijiang, a mythological creature that we learned more about from A Chinese Bestiary: Strange Creatures from the Guideways Through Mountains and Seas (thanks to this article from Murphy’s Multiverse for alerting us to this useful tome, which we have now acquired for ourselves).
And once the movie was released, we learned even more about how this faceless, four-winged, six-legged creature operates… which include some striking similarities to certain other beings!
Plus, if you’ve been completely won over by this cuddly character – hashtag We Love Morris – then you may want to consider pre-ordering this adorable Morris plush! In fact, Morris isn’t only of great assistance to down-and-out actors (or should I say court jesters?), but also to up-and-coming writers as well… he’s sitting here helping with this article as this writer types.
You can see him too, right?
