Old Man Logan Returns in WASTELANDERS Series from Marvel Comics
In an article posted on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, Marvel announced that a Wastelanders comic series spinning out of the post-apocalyptic world of “Old Man Logan” is on the way! Sharpen your claws because things are about to get wild (wild west), Marvel Blog True Believers!
Five Wastelanders
With a creative team that includes heavy-hitting writers like Steven S. DeKnight, Ethan Sacks, Rich Douek, and Torunn Grønbekk and amazing artists such as Ibrahim Moustafa, Ibrahim Robertson, Julius Ohta, Brent Peeples, Robert Gill, and Well-Bee, this series of five one-shot comics will feature individual issues that spotlight Wolverine, Doctor Doom, Hawkeye, Star-Lord, and in their debut Wastelands appearance, Black Widow.
Each of the five issues will feature a cover by Josemaria Casanovas.
December Heroes
The first one shot, Wastelanders: Wolverine #1, will arrive at your local comic shop beginning on December 1st, 2021. This story will be set in the time after the original 2008 Old Man Logan story, which was co-created by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven.
“It’s such a rare, bloody joy to be able to transport readers back to the universe of Old Man Logan in the one-shots for WASTELANDERS: WOLVERINE and WASTELANDERS: BLACK WIDOW,” DeKnight told Marvel about the latest event which will see Logan protecting the progeny (Baby Hulk) of one of his rivals in the Wastelands (Hulk, Red SKull, Doom).
Excitingly, a new issue will appear on each of the four subsequent Wednesdays in the month, with the fifth arriving on December 29th, 2021.
Each of the one-shots will see the “old man” versions of the character facing off against various external threats – not to mention their own personal demons – as they attempt to survive in this strange new barren world!
In Wastelanders: Hawkeye, Clint Barton has lost his eyesight. However, he’ll be teaming up with Matt Murdock for expert guidance on how to ensure his arrows still fly right!
Meanwhile, the final issue in the event, Wastelanders: Black Widow, will see the superspy infiltrating the Lizard King’s fortress in order to retrieve critical intel.
Wastelanders
Will you be picking up these five issues when they arrive at your local comic shop beginning in December? Which one of the one-shots has piqued your interest? Did you ever get a chance to listen to the Old Man Star-Lord audio drama that provided inspiration for Peter Quill’s role in the Wastelands?
