TIMELESS Hints at the Future of Marvel Comics
Earlier this month, Marvel Blog True Believers learned about the impending arrival of Timeless from Marvel Comics, featuring Kang the Conqueror!
While Timeless was one of the titles announced when the next few months of Marvel Comics were officially unveiled earlier this year, thanks to an article posted on the official Marvel Entertainment website on September 9th, 2021, we now have more details about what exactly this one-shot will be!
Timeless
The Timeless one-shot will be written by Jed McKay, with art by Kev Walker, Greg Land, and Mark Bagley, with a main cover by Kael Ngu. Although the Immortal Hulk artist Joe Bennett was originally announced as one of the artists on Timeless, Marvel has decided to end its working relationship with Bennett, according to longtime comics journalist Chris Arrant at GamesRadar. And with most recent announcement, Marvel has confirmed Bennett’s replacement is Land.
The Kang one-shot will arrive at your local comic shop (LCS) in December 2021.
According to the article, this issue will deliver a plethora of tantalizing hints about what’s to come across various Marvel Comics titles over the course of 2022. It isn’t just the Marvel Cinematic Universe that’s been messed up by Kang, Marvel Blog True Believers, it’s Universe-616 as well!
Marvel has already confirmed that this one-shot will impact multiple corners of the Marvel Universe, bringing about new developments for the X-Men, Daredevil, Venom, and the Avengers!
Among these titles are Avengers Forever (the first issue of which will feature the best variant cover I have ever seen) and a title featuring Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur that is still largely shrouded in secrecy (but remember that Lunella Lafayette is the single smartest character in the Marvel universe, so she probably has it covered).
Plus, Timeless could have something to do with the new direction for the Daredevil series that was teased in the Spider-Man/Venom FCBD issue.
Just how Timeless might fit in to the currently ongoing Kang the Conqueror series remains to be seen, but it should be interesting learning how the chronology fits together!
“Kang the Conqueror always knows what happens next – it’s a perk of being from the 31st century. But when chronal chaos throws the future he expects into disarray, the Conqueror finds a new challenge to pit himself against – and he’s delighted by it,” MacKay explained to Marvel.com. “In his adventure across the timelines, Kang will reveal things that will happen in the coming years, things that could, and things that should never.”
