Feige Sings Praises of Hawkeye’s Seasonal Stakes
In an article posted to Movieweb on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021, it was reported that Marvel Studios Head Boss in Charge Kevin Feige was singing the praises of Hawkeye’s seasonal stakes, emphasizing that after the multiverse-level shenanigans at work in Avengers: Endgame and Eternals, it will be nice to see a street-level show that’s just about getting home for the holidays!
Hawkeye’s Seasonal Story
As you have probably gleaned from the trailers and marketing for Hawkeye, the show has a seasonal theme, and Feige revealed that each of the six episodes in the season will be tantamount to a single day, with the tension coming from the question of whether or not Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) will manage to make it back home to his family before Christmas.
“This is fun because it’s a Christmas story taking place during the holidays. It’s also based on early discussions about a limited time period, about setting a series … essentially, in a six-day period: six episodes, six days,” explained Feige. “Will Clint make it home for Christmas? …This is, like Hawkeye himself, a grounded, family-based show.”
Feige noted that although Iron Man 3 did include some festive holiday elements, it was released during the summer, so it didn’t possess that same sense of seasonal suitability that Hawkeye will.
“I’ve always loved films or shows or specials that take place over the holiday season,” said Feige. “We’ve announced a Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special, which has literally been in the works for four years.” \
However, it sounds like Hawkeye and the Guardians of the Galaxy may not be the last time we see characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe celebrating seasonal festivities. “I just love this time of year for the storytelling possibilities,” said Feige.
