Spider-Man Swings Into Fortnite
A dramatic live event on Saturday night ushered in the new season of Fortnite, which went live earlier this afternoon. Titled “Flipped,” chapter 3 promises to be an awesome experience for Fortniters everywhere.
During the live event, viewers watched in shock as Fornite’s previous island literally flipped over. The game then went into downtime and players could merely stare at their character left adrift in a vast ocean. Earlier this afternoon, players began play by washing up on the shore of a brand new island to get a pep talk from none other than The Foundation.

New Season, New Elements
With its newest season, Epic Games has introduced exciting new characters (more on that in a minute, True Believers!), as well as some brand new elements. The studio explains:
“This new chapter brings camps, where players and their squad can heal and store items from match to match — bringing new persistent, social gameplay options to Fortnite. Plus, there are new weapons and items to help win a victory royale and earn the all-new, ultimate prestige — the Victory Crown. Keep winning to keep the crown.”

Several new moves have also been added. Characters will now be able to slide and swing. These two brand new mechanics may make the experience even faster for experienced players!
In addition, players can now earn XP in creative mode, something that’s never been available before. (XP is short for Experience Points, a type of progression in Fortnite. When players earn enough XP, they can level up or unlock additional styles for specific skins.)
And Finally…. New Characters!
During “The End” live event for Chapter 2 on Saturday night, The Foundation was revealed to be Duane “The Rock” Johnson.

If you have a tween/teenage son who gathered with friends to watch, then you know how excited Fortnite players were for this big reveal!
Johnson had confirmed that he would lend his voice to the popular Battle Royale game. That being said, it was unknown that the character he voiced would be modeled after the well-known actor. While The Foundation has made previous appearances in Fortnite, Epic Games had not yet revealed the character’s voice actor.
Will Spider-Man Save the Day in Chapter 3?
In addition, fans were treated to a big reveal earlier today. Spider-Man has arrived! Not only is the web-slinger being featured prominently in the new season, he brings with him a new location on the map… the Daily Bugle!

Spider-Man’s arrival has also clearly inspired the two new gameplay mechanics – sliding and swinging. The latter of the two is clearly intended to allow for plenty of web-slinging antics across the platform!
Fortnite Chapter 3 promises to be a new beginning, for both new and returning players. It will feature new quests, new locations, and reveal several different versions of Spider-Man – including his friends and foes – throughout the season.
Buckle up, True Believers. This is going to be fun!
