‘WandaVision’ and ‘What If…?’ Earn a Combined 5 Critics Choice Award Nominations
Two of Marvel’s most ambitious Disney+ projects have officially been recognized yet again for their excellence, as the two premiere MCU series, WandaVision and What If…? earn a combined 5 Critics Choice Award nominations!
WandaVision
Leading the pack is WandaVision who received four of those nominations, proving the incredibly inventive and unique series was a hit with audiences as well as critics.
Dominating many of the categories dedicated to a Limited Series, WandaVision as a series was nominated for Best Limited Series, as well as a plethora of nominations for the performers.
Veteran actress Kathryn Hahn was nominated for Best Actress in a Limited Series for her work as the character of Agatha Harkness; her work on the series was adored by fans, with her beloved musical number, “It was Agatha all Along,” earning a Grammy nomination.
Paul Bettany earned a much-deserved nomination for Best Actor in a Limited Series, with a very interesting evolution of the Vision character coming out in a version that was more human than we’ve ever seen out of the humanoid supercomputer.
Finally, there was perhaps no one involved with the series more deserving than Elizabeth Olsen who received a nomination for Best Actress in a Limited Series, and her portrayal of Wanda Maximoff is one of the best performances ever seen in a Marvel project.
The three performers brought so much to the series as a whole, and it feels as though they all have a chance to take home the award – something that has become the norm for the limited series.
What If…?
What If…? was also recognized for its excellence, receiving a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Animated Series.
The Marvel Anthology series explore the vastness of the Multiverse and re-told the story of some of Marvel’s beloved characters in brand new ways. With its unique take on the MCU as we know, it brings a fresh look at a story fans have known for over a decade.
With the two series from Marvel earning a combined 5 critics’ choice award nominations, it is clear that the MCU is continuing their trend of producing great limited series, and should be on the path for continued excellence with the upcoming lineup of Phase Four.
