TASCHEN & Marvel Reveal The Marvel Comics Library
In an article posted to the official Marvel website on Tuesday, December 7th, 2021, a collaboration between Marvel Comics and publisher TASCHEN was announced. Over the next decade, the exclusive, long-term agreement will see the publication of Marvel’s rarest comics in a delicious extra-large format… and it will all begin in 2022 with Spider-Man. Vol. 1. 1962 – 1964.
Spider-Man. Vol. 1. 1962 – 1964
The first volume in the collection, Spider-Man. Vol. 1. 1962 – 1964, will include the first twenty-one Spider-Man stories. In addition to reproducing the artistic vision of Steve Ditko and Stan Lee, the first volume will also include an introduction by collector David Mandel, an essay by former Marvel editor Ralph Macchio, plus rare photos and original art boards.

This incredible collection is timed for release just ahead of the web-slinger’s sixtieth birthday… And hey! Spider-Man. Vol. 1. 1962 – 1964 from TASCHEN would make the perfect gift! In addition to future volumes of Spider-Man, the next volumes in The Marvel Comics Library series will be Avengers. Vol. 1. 1963 – 1965, Fantastic Four. Vol. 1. 1961 – 1963, and Captain America.

All four of these titles from TASCHEN are scheduled for release in 2022 and 2023, so between these oversize collections and the upcoming Penguin Classics Marvel Collection, you may want to clear some room on your shelf (or maybe just adopt my strategy, and buy another shelf)!

While the price tag for the books in the TASCHEN Marvel Comics Library has yet to be announced, according to Comics Beat EIC Heidi MacDonald, the publisher has a reputation for high quality art books… and that means high price tags! Somebody get me on the Bishop Security payroll so I can expense them!
