The MCU’s Most Iconic Moments of Phase Four (So Far)
With the first year of Marvel’s latest Phase in eh books, we decided to collect the MCU’s most iconic moments of Phase Four (so far).
The MCU has become defined by its use of various Phases, acting as collections of various films and projects that group the different sagas and storylines.
Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Spider-Man: No Way Home, WandaVision and Loki are all some of the incredible titles that we have already been given, already developing the multiverse as the focal conflict.
With 2021 marking the beginning of Marvel’s Phase Four slate, we reflect on the incredible moments that we’ve gotten so far!
Honorable Mention: The Return of Marvel’s Netflix Universe
One of the most exciting, and unexpected, developments of Marvel’s Phase Four slate was the canonizing of Marvel Netflix Universe; with the return of its two most iconic characters.
Charlie Cox returned as Matt Murdoch with a small part as Peter Parker’s lawyer in Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk returned as the main villain in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, with both making iconic appearances that could have massive implications for the MCU.
5) Natasha and Dreykov
Black Widow has more than proved itself as the most underappreciated work of Phase Four, as it featured one of the true iconic showdowns in the film’s climactic moments.
Showing Natasha finally coming face to face with the man who stole everything from her, the physical brutality of her finally overcoming his control of her, and her actions thus setting free the legion of mind-controlled assassins Dreykov was holding captive; the entire sequence was brilliant
4) Confronting He Who Remains
Loki stood out as one of the most interesting Disney+ outings for Marvel Studios, with it being the first project of Phase Four that truly introduced the concept of the multiverse of the MCU.
With all of the iconic moments of the series, perhaps none was more so than the final confrontation between Sylvie, Loki, and He Who Remains; uncovering the existence of Kang, and forcing yet another domino to fall in the unraveling of the delicate Multiverse.
3) Birth of the Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff has long been one of the strongest characters in the entire MCU, with her magic fairing well against Thanos himself; but WandaVision showed the true untapped potential of her ability with the birth of the Scarlet Witch.
Fighting off the villainous Agatha, the moment was incredibly executed, and established one of the most dangerous characters moving forward for the MCU; with an appearance slated for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MAdness, there is no telling what is in store for the superpowered Goddess of Earth-616.
2) Shang-Chi Vs. Wenwu
What was undoubtedly the best debut of 2021, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a beautiful film about love, loss, and destiny, that culminated into one of the best final showdowns of the year.
Wenwu was a villain in a league of his own for Marvel’s Phase Four, and his final confrontation against his only son is one shrouded in regret, as the two fight for the memory of the women who meant everything to them.
1) The Final Battle of Spider-Man: No Way Home
Was there any other option? Spider-Man: No Way Home was the most iconic film of 2021, and featured what was easily the most iconic moment of Marvel’s Phase Four so far.
With the three past iterations of Spider-Man arriving to help the MCU’s Peter Parker take down the character’s greatest foes, the climactic final battle will live on in Marvel fans as one of the most rewarding and iconic sequences that MArvel has ever formulated; celebrating 20 years of Peter Parker.
