Brand New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Concept Art Reveals the Film that Almost Was
One of the biggest films the MCU has ever was almost very different, as brand new Spider-Man: No Way Home concept art reveals the film that almost was.
In my opinion, Spider-Man: No Way Home is a near-perfect film. Despite some technicalities within the plot, I think the film is the greatest Peter Parker film ever told.
Celebrating the 20 years of iterations of the character on the big screen, the MCU explores the character’s past, and reconstructs his future, in what has easily been the most successful and dominant film of the year.
But it appears as though it was originally a much different movie, as brand new Spider-Man: No Way Home concept art reveals the film that almost was.
Doctor Strange was a massive character in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and was responsible for the spell that first exposed the MCU’s Peter Parker to the vast multiverse; what we know now, however, is that it wasn’t always Doctor Strange intended to play that function.
The concept art suggests America Chavez was originally intended to play a major role in the Spider-Man sequel; with the imagery showing her holding a book that is seemingly in the process of casting a very large spell.

With the original Phase Four slate having Spider-Man: No Way Home take place after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it would make sense for America Chavez to be planned for the Spider-Man sequel.
What is more interesting is that the version of America Chavez that we now have slated to appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is different from the concept art interpretation; with the concept art seeming to resemble Isabela Merced, the young actress in talks for the role.
Oh so America was originally supposed to introduce Tobey & Andrew but due to Multiverse of Madness’s release moving to after NWH they just gave Ned magic instead pic.twitter.com/Y4zbO9wCzS

She ultimately didn’t take the part- with Xochilt Gomez being cast instead- but with the concept art showing Chavez being present in the final showdown of the film, it is fair to assume that the character had a massive role in the films original plans.
This could also be the unnamed character that the film writers spoke on being removed late into the production process, but either way, Marvel clearly ended up developing what I think is one of the best Marvel films to date, and I don’t think there is anything that should’ve changed about the movie they made.
