Updates on MCU’s ‘Fantastic Four’
One of the most anticipated films of Marvel’s lauded Phase Four appears to finally have some news for fans hungry for development on the reboot, as we have some updates on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Fantastic Four.
With Marvel making its way through their illustrious Phase Four, things have begun to unravel for the MCU and its delicate Multiverse.
With Spider-Man: No Way Home bringing fans one of the greatest adaptations of the film universe yet, the excitement over where Kevin Feige and his team are taking Phase Four has reached a fever pitch.
The architect and visionary force behind Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the three MCU Spider-Man films that preceded it, Jon Watts, has been tasked with leading the MCU’s long-awaited Fantastic Four reboot, a move that delighted me.
With the news cycle being mum on anything regarding the final act of Phase Four, it appears as though we finally have updates on the MCU’s Fantastic Four, and whether or not recent developments of Watts’ commitments in the film industry will impact his ability to direct the film that is fastly approaching.
Monday it was revealed, via ComicBook.com and others, that Watts would be the lead producer on a reboot of the Final Destination franchise at New Line Cinema after the acclaimed director already agreed to helm a project for Apple featuring Hollywood mainstays George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
In the original report from Variety, however, it is expected that the Fantastic Four reboot at Marvel Studios will be Watts’ clear focus and the thing that he plans to shoot next.
This should be news that excites fans, as with all of his commitments, Fantastic Four still looks clearly planted on the horizon, but it is concerning that no writers or actors have yet to be attached to the project.
Only time will tell how this long-awaited Marvel project shapes up, but Watts, Feige, and all on the Marvel team deserve the benefit of the doubt considering their incredible productions in the past.
