Marvel Producer Explains Why America Chavez is Perfect for ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’
With the speculation surrounding the upcoming sequel, Marvel Producer Richie Palmer explains why America Chavez was perfect for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and her road into the MCU.
The multiverse has become the constant through-line throughout Marvel’s fantastically executed Phase Four.
Loki first introduced the concept that was then greater explored in the fantastic and record-breaking Spider-Man: no Way Home; which gave fans their first look at what alternate realities in the Marvel Universe truly look like.
The upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will take that concept to a whole new level, as Marvel’s resident sorcerer is forced to confront the deteriorating multiverse and the destruction of reality as we know it.
With a film that will introduce a plethora of characters, and explore a multitude of multiverses, one character will undoubtedly be vital to the film’s story, and the MCU moving forward.
In a recent exert from D23 Magazine, Marvel producer Richie Palmer spoke about why America Chavez was perfect for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Palmer stated, “America is someone we’ve been trying to get into the MCU for a long time. This felt like the best place to do it, because ‘Multiverse’ is in the title and her powers specifically have to do with the Multiverse- her powers being that she can punch open doorways into another universe.”
Palmer concluded, “That’s something we haven’t seen in our movies, a character who can actually walk from one universe to another. That’s maddening in itself for characters such as Doctor Strange and Wong, whose joes are to protect those barriers.”
What is interesting about Palmer’s words is that MArvel has actively been trying to incorporate the young hero into the MCU- something we know from released Spider-Man: No Way Home concept art- and waited for what is the perfect opportunity for her awaited debut.
