‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ Breaks Fandango’s 2022 Record for First-Day Ticket Sales
There may not be a single film in Marvel’s Phase Four slate with this level of anticipation as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness breaks Fandango’s 20222 records for first-day ticket sales.
Spider-Man: No Way Home was easily the biggest film of 2021, setting up a narrative in which the entirety of the MCU was primed for the unleashing of the multiverse.
There was no denying that the film following up that incredible adventure- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness– is easily among the most hyped MCU entries of 2022.
Chalked full of mystery and uncertainty, there is one overarching feeling heading into the advanced promotional campaign for the film; the Marvel Universe will surely never be the same.
With fans eager to uncover the various variants of Marvel’s resident sorcerer, continue the exploration into one of the MCU’s most interesting characters in the form of Wanda Maximoff, and witness the MCU debut of America Chavez, there is no shortage of reasons to be anxiously awaited this sequel.
That palpable anticipation, however, has proven to be quantifiable as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness breaks Fandango’s 2022 record for First-Day ticket sales.
Although the record-breaking trend for the Doctor Strange sequel is not all that surprising considering how invested fans are in the MCU Multiverse saga, it is no doubt a feat worthy to be celebrated.
In a report from Collider, it was noted that “During the first 24 hours, the sequel sold more tickets than any other film this year and the website saw a huge number of fans reserve their seats.”
The report went on to state, “This is all impressive given that 2022 has had a great lineup of films so far. Doctor Strange 2 beat the likes of Scream, Uncharted, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and The Batman, the latter of which has made offer $700 million at the box office.”
As the official May 6th release date of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness quickly approaches, one thing is abundantly clear; this is primed to be one of the MCU’s biggest films.
