Marvel Confirms Big Change to Kamala Khan’s Powers for Upcoming ‘Ms. Marvel’
The upcoming MCU series promises the live-action adaptation of Ms. Marvel, a development that has come with a major change to Kamala Khan’s power; something Marvel has now officially confirmed.
There are few Marvel characters that have been as beloved in the world of comics as the character of Kamala Khan.
A hero who is defined by her love and adoration for the world of the Marvel Universe, Kamala is a younger Muslim American girl from Jersey City New Jersey who finds herself receiving superpowers.
The live-action debut of the character in the MCU was inevitable, and long overdue, with her status as one of Marvel’s most important heroes, only growing into pop culture.
The original trailer of the series debuted to the collective cheer of Marvel fans, but one thing very much stood out to fans; the source and functionality of her powers were incredibly different.
What was a power that mimicked Mr. Fantastic, the live-action adaptation of the character displayed a much different superpower; with her seemingly creating crystal-like structures out of cosmic energy.
With many fans uncertain of how Marvel will approach this change, MArvel confirms the big change to Kamala Khan’s powers.
ComicBook.com reported (via the Empire Magazine special issue on the series), a snippet that officially confirms the alternation to the iconic character.
The issue writes, “…When Khan obtains her own cosmic super strength and ability to manifest purple crystals via a pair of bangles, she learns that, in a similar way to Peter Parker and Miles Morales, having a dual identity is messy.”
It is interesting to consider the change, but it does make sense; with the Fantastic Four arriving at the end of this Phase Four- featuring the live-action debut of Reed Richards- it is understandable that Marvel wouldn’t want the two very similarly powered individuals to arrive at the same time.
We cannot wait to see what the MCU debut of Ms. Marvel looks like, and how the character’s changes extend beyond her superpowers.
