Kevin Feige Reportedly Considered Joining Marvel’s Greatest Competitor
There is no denying the incredible impact of the man most often credited as the orchestrator of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, but recent developments have inferred he may have toyed with the idea of leaving the iconic company, as Kevin Feige reportedly considered joining MArvels competitor.
Since the dawn of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there has been one constant in the world of comic book adaptations; Kevin Feige.
He was working amidst some of the biggest Marvel adaptations of all time, from Spider-Man and the X-Men films of the 2000s to the original birthplace of the interconnected movie universe that would come out of the 2008s Iron Man film.
It is impossible to tell the story of comic book films without the name Kevin Feige, and it is even more impossible to tell the story of Marvel as a company without that name.
He has left an indelible mark on the entire company of Marvel, but his story as a producing iconic almost looked a lot different as Kevin Feige reportedly considered joining Marvel’s greatest competitor; as he almost jumped ship to join Warner Brothers and DC.
Recently reported by ComicBook.com, stated that Feige, “Talked pretty seriously with Warners a few years ago when he was angling to escape the oversight of Marvel’s then-madman C.E.O. Ike Perlmutter. (Iger and Horn ended up siding with Feige, smartly.)”
How history would have been different if Iger hadn’t sided with the producing mogul and Feige had actually joined Warner Brothers to bring to life some of DC comics’ most iconic characters to the big screen.
The power struggle between Ike Perlmutter’s Marvel Entertainment, and Kevin Feige’s Marvel Studios took place in much of 2016, with reports at the time speaking to the former head of Marvel cutting off Fiege at the knees every chance that he could.
Fighting over characters and financial commitments, the conflict finally ended with Iger and Disney putting full faith in Feige; which was the right move considering all he had done for the brand’s exposure, and all that he would continue to do throughout his lengthy tenure as the man in charge.
