Hot Toys Set to Release Spine-Chilling ‘Dead Strange’ Figure
The Multiverse of Madness was released a few weeks ago to massive commercial success! Now Hot Toys have announced a hair-raising new ‘Dead Strange’ figure based on the zombified appearance of Dr. Strange seen in the movie!
Hot Toys is a high-end collectible creator that delves into producing incredible collectible items for fans to enjoy. Hot Toys’ most famous line is that of their 1/6th scale highly-detailed figures that practically mirror the iterations they are based on. The company has created figures and collectibles for an enormous number of movies and other media.
‘Dead Strange’ is based on a moment in Multiverse of Madness when Dr. Strange dream-walks into a deceased variant of himself from a universe that had suffered from an incursion. A myriad of dark souls attempts to stop him resulting in Strange taking control of the damned souls to do battle with his latest foe.
The Dead Strange figure is truly immaculate. Like many other Hot Toys collectibles, this figure is practically an inch-for-inch replica pulled directly from Multiverse of Madness. The level of detail this figure holds is staggering, and any collector would certainly enjoy adding this piece to their collection.
Beginning with the level of detail present in the skin and face of the figure which manages to capture the zombified aesthetic perfectly. Deep lacerations fill Strange’s face with a sizeable gash opening up the left side of Strange’s face to reveal a gnarly-looking wound exposing blood and teeth.
The color of Strange’s skin is a morbidly dull brownish-gray that depicts the rotting and decay that a long-deceased body would hold. Even Strange’s fingers and torso appear to be simply falling apart, held together loosely by whatever skin remains. The ability of Hot Toys to capture this moment and realize it in figure form is amazing.
The fabric that adorns Dead Strange looks identical to the film and segments of the clothing is ripped open to reveal damaged and decaying skin. The figure also comes with a plethora of accessories such as six interchangeable hands but perhaps the most impressive is that of the souls of the damned cloak.
The cloak brings another layer of intricacy to the piece as outstretched hands come to life adorning the back of Dead Strange with hands clasping onto his chest. Skeletal torsos, skulls, and hands are fused together giving the visage of agony looking as if they are screaming in pain.
The figure is currently available for preorder on both Sideshow Collectibles and Big Bad Toy Store just under the price point of $400. Though the figure will not ship until next summer, this piece straddles the line between collectible figures and beautiful art and will be a welcome piece to any collection.
Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness is set to release on Disney+ on June 22nd where those who haven’t seen it can view it, or those who loved it the first time around can see it again!
