Doctor Strange 2 Becomes One of Ten MCU Movies In Exclusive Club
One of the biggest films of the year, and the biggest Marvel release of 2022 thus far, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness becomes one of ten MCU movies in an exclusive club.
There are few Marvel Cinematic Universe projects that have arrived at the type of reception that came to the long-awaited and highly-anticipated Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Recently crossing the massive milestone of reaching $900 at the worldwide box office, the accolades are not stopping there for the Sam Raimi-helmed Doctor STrange project, as Doctor STrange 2 has become one of ten MCU movies in an exclusive club.
As reported by ComicBook.com, the Doctor Strange sequel is now only the tenth Marvel film to surpass $400 million at the domestic box office; an incredible accomplishment that reflects the American market embracing of the MCU’s first true horror film.
The list of films that have also achieved over $400 million domestically is some of the biggest MCU films of all time; Avengers: Endgame, Spider-MAn: No Way Home, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, The Avengers, Captain Marvel, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War.
The achievement places it in rare company, as that list of Marvel films reflects some of the most successful and most beloved projects in Marvel history, as it also presents the second consecutive Phase Four film to enter the club; with the fifth consecutive Marvel film to achieve the feat.
Following Spider-Man: No Way Home, the biggest question is whether or not the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder could continue the trend of reaching the $400 million domestic box office club.
If we had to make a prediction, we would be predicted confidently that the upcoming fourth solo Thor film would be the 11th film to enter the exclusive club; as Thor remains one of the most popular characters in the MCU, and this upcoming film is one of his most anticipated entries.
