Marvel has officially returned to Hall H with the new wave of announcements about what’s to come for the MCU, and with its animation panel taking place today, we give you everything revealed about X-Men ’97 at SDCC 2022.
It was easily one of the most exciting projects that fans couldn’t wait to see revealed at the highly-anticipated event, as the Marvel studio’s animation panel delved deep into what fans could expect when the series arrives in the fall of 2023.

According to ComicBook.com, this portion of the panel began with “A sizzle reel of X-Men: The Animated Series” that then transitioned into the upcoming X-Men ’97, showcasing the connectivity of the two series, and how closely connected they are
Beau DeMayo, one of the Marvel executives that are running the series, notes that “This is gonna be the first project since acquiring the rights back,” from Fox; as this series is the first of the X-Men that we’ve seen from Marvel Studios.

DeMayo then went on to speak about how vital the series was to him growing up, as he noted that being a gay, adopted, black kid in Florida allowed him to connect with a lot of the social issues that the X-Men have come to represent over the years.
Perhaps the most shocking revelation of the announcement was that Magneto would be leading this version of the X-Men, with the panel showcasing Rogue, Gambit, Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Gray, Beast Cable, Bishop, Forge, Morph, Nightcrawler, and Sunspot were all showcased.

DeMayo also spoke on the villain of the series, stating that, “Sinister is back in a big way,” referring to known X-Men villain Mister Sinister; adding that, “He is going to be holding the X-Men’s fate in the fire and telling humanity… to face the future.”
The panel did showcase some footage, while ensuring that the upcoming series would be an extension of the feel of the classic animated series, with a modern touch,
