Marvel Celebrates 60 Years of Spider-Man!
Marvel is celebrating 60 years of Spider-Man from today through December 1st, 2022! Starting with the release of tons of amazing new collectibles, products, and a special Comic-con Museum exhibit in San Diego!
Few heroes have been able to capture the hearts of readers throughout the decades like Spider-Man. Every fan regardless of age has heard the indelible quote that describes his stalwart noble nature throughout the comics
With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility
Spider-Man reminds us to look inside of ourselves and be responsible for the gifts and talents that we have been given. Spider-Man has inspired multiple generations of ‘True Believers’ with his amazing stories, and will most certainly continue to do so both on the comic book page and on the silver screen.
First Appearing in Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962), creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko spun a sensational tale of the intelligent yet awkward Peter Parker who is bitten by a radioactive spider that helps him gain access to fantastical spider-based powers.
While Spider-Man enjoys his newfound powers, he makes a fatal mistake one day allowing a thief to escape after telling a security guard that he is through letting people push him around. The escaped thief shoots and fatally kills Peter’s Uncle Ben, teaching people an incredibly valuable lesson about the result of his choices.
The Spider-Man film in 2002 would elevate the character to the upper echelons of pop culture fame. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film starred Tobey Maguire, who perfectly captured the awkward lonely nature of the original Peter Parker with an enigmatic villain in William Dafoe’s Norman Osborne.
The film would spawn two sequels, with Spider-Man 2 gripping audiences with Raimi’s rendition of Doc Ock. Another reboot starring Andrew Garfield would begin in 2012 with one sequel before Disney finally got their hands on the character bringing him into the MCU to join the Avengers and other Marvel heroes.
Celebrating 60 Years of Spider-Man!
Commemorating Spider-Man’s 60 years, Marvel will be releasing several amazing collectibles and products that will specifically honor the 60 years of Spider-Man’s run. A myriad of amazing products will be available and you can see them here.
One of the collectibles includes a Spider-Man Mangaverse Year of the Spider Funko Pop! Part of the alternate universe Marvel Mangaverse, this Peter Parker’s origin is vastly different as he is the last member of the Spider clan ninjas!
Marvel Legends will also be celebrating 60 years of Spider-Man with a special Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spinneret 2-pack! Spinneret is Mary Jane Watson from an alternate timeline who is married to Peter Parker and has the same powers as Spider-Man.
The 2-pack is labeled as a special ‘Renew Your Vows’ 2 pack with each figure standing at 6 inches and full of tons of articulation!
Sideshow will also be releasing a special 1:10 scale statue featuring Spider-Man’s velocity suit. The velocity suit is primarily seen in the 2018 Spider-Man video game. Built by Peter Park to enhance his speed, the suit’s unique appearance and color scheme make it stand out from Spidey’s other suits.
The statue is absolutely immaculate, bringing the velocity suit to statue form with such vibrancy in the coloring and details that replicate the suit as seen in the game!
Finally, ShopDisney is releasing an amazing Spider-Man logo backpack! The backpack mimics the legendary and iconic traditional Spidey suit of everyone’s favorite wallcrawler with his emblem in the middle. Kids can travel or head to school with a backpack based on their favorite superhero!
The backpack features Spidey’s traditional blue and red with black webbing and emblem, equipped with special padded shoulder straps. Other Spider-Man school items also exist allowing your child to coordinate an entire Spider-Man set!
