Tom Holland Breaks Silence on his Social Media Hiatus
There are very few people on the planet that are in his age range, and are as famous and beloved as he is; but it turns out that Spider-Man even needs some time away, as Tom Holland has broken his silence on his social media hiatus.
In 2016, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures struck up what is an unprecedented agreement over the adaption rights of one of the greatest and move beloved fictional characters of all time, and the Comic Book medium’s greatest creation.
It was an agreement that would allow Marvel to introduce Peter Parker to the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it thrust the character into the limelight once again and placed him at the very epicenter of the most popular film franchise of the past decade.
When it was announced, there was a hyper-focus on who would fill those massive boots, with the character already being played in two previous adaptations that- despite their somewhat mixed reviews- offered fans some beloved version of Peter Parker.
It was in getting that role that Tom Holland went from a young, immensely talented, dramatically trained actor primed for a seemingly successful career in whatever entertainment industry he fancied, to being one of the biggest and most popular stars on the planet; and it felt as if it happened overnight.
There is only guessing what that must have felt like for Holland himself, as the man behind the mask has handled the alteration of his entire world and perception with tremendous grace, and maturity well beyond his very young age.
But it seems as though his ability to handle all of the unbearable pressure that he has faced has come from his understanding of when he needs some time away from the spotlight, as Tom Holland has recently broken his silence on his self-imposed social media hiatus.
Filming a short video for the charity stem4, from the young actors collective, The Brothers Trust Organization, he confronted his own struggles with balancing his mental health and the demands of social media.

Holland stated, “Hi guys, so I’ve been trying to make this for an hour now, and for someone that has spent the last 13, 14 years, however long I’ve been acting, I cannot seem to say what I need to say without ‘umming’ and ‘arring’ every five minutes.”
Holland added, “So I’m going to try agai. So I have taken a break from social media for my mental health, because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to beo overwhelming. I get caught up and I spiral when I rea things about me online and ultimately its very detrimental to my mental state.”
Holland concluded, “On this very, very being return to Instagram, I thought it would be very important and a good idea to shed some light on a charity that we sponsor which is stem4. Stem4 is wonderfully innovative education program.”
Holland went on to highlight the various applications and services that stem4 provides for young people, all aimed at helping them to articulate, regulate, and appreciate their own mental health.
